A letter from Matthew

Merry Christmas!

Growing up, Christmas was my favorite holiday. The lights and the colors, food and presents. As parents you always made it feel special and really something to look forward to.

I look back on our holiday traditions with good memories. From singing at the piano at Grandpa and Grandma Middlebrook’s house in Grass Lake, snacking on Aunt Frannie’s bologna salad and Grandpa Hendges’ sleigh bells and sausage breakfast, our Christmas traditions were the best. Thank you for keeping the spirit alive for our family.

Also thinking back I wanted to share with you one of my favorite presents as a child. I wondered if you remembered it.

I still have my Verti-bird from 45 years ago! It was my favorite gift and I still have it!!

Since then, however, with many years to look back on…my favorite gift has become this.

Singing at the piano with you, Mom and Dad, and my girls (and nieces) is the best Christmas gift I will ever receive. What an incredible, and special gift that will last my whole life.

Thank you and I love you both with all my heart.

Merry Christmas with love,

Matthew Clare
